When will the first semester classes commence this year?
The regular classes will begin from the 9th of November 2022. Detailed schedule of the Online Orientation & Induction Program is available in the schedule of the events on the Institute website.
When can we come to the campus?
Students may plan to arrive on campus from 5-Nov-2022 onwards. We may not be able to accommodate the students if they arrive earlier.
How is the Online Orientation & Induction Program conducted?
The Online Orientation & Induction Program will be conducted through the Zoom Video Conferencing platform. It will be a real-time virtual interaction with the Director, Deans, Course Instructors etc. A Question/Answer Session will also be a part of the Online Orientation & Induction Program. Prospective students are required to install the ZOOM application in their mobile/laptop/desktop in order to attend the program. The Zoom meeting link details will be communicated to the registered email ID (on JOSAA Portal) of the student.
I have given my father’s email id but I want all the communication from the Institute to be on my personal email id. How to change the Email ID.
During the orientation programme, all the new students would be allotted the Institute Email ID. All subsequent communication will be made only through the Institute Email ID.
Where is IIT Tirupati campus located?
IIT Tirupati campus is located near Yerpedu on the Tirupati- Venkatagiri Highway, Tirupati District, Andhra Pradesh which is approximately 14 kms away from Renigunta and 13 kms away from Tirupati International Airport.
Do we need to submit Migration Certificate, Gap Certificate and Transfer Certificate?
No. IIT Tirupati does not ask for Migration Certificate, Gap Certificate and Transfer Certificate.
What will be the courses in 1st semester of B.Tech?

When is admission letter issued?
The provisional admission letter, if requested by the student for any specific purpose, will be issued.
Is change of branch allowed?
Yes. Please refer to R.5.0 of the B.Tech Ordinances https://old.iittp.ac.in/pdfs/btech/B.Tech-Ordinance-Regulations-2018.pdf
Where will the freshers be accommodated?
All the students of IIT Tirupati including the B.Tech freshers will stay on the campus hostel buildings. Classrooms, Hostels, Dining facility, Sports complex, Health Centre etc. are already in place and functioning from the year 2018.
Is hostel available for every student? Are hostel rooms shared or single room?
Yes. Only shared rooms are available.
Is hostel compulsory?
Yes. However, in exceptional cases the competent authority can relax the condition.
What is the Institute fees structure?
The fees structure and an estimate for the fees per semester for loan purposes (category-wise) will be provided in the welcome letter once the seat allocation has been finalized. The same is also made available on the Institute’s website.
How do I pay the Institute fees?
Institute fees will be paid online through payment SBI COLLECT link given above.
What should I do if the SBI Collect payment given on Institute’s website is not working?
If the link given on the Institute’s website is not working, you can alternatively try the following.
Do we need to pay the semester fee after deducting the seat acceptance fee?
Yes. The students may note that the final amount after deducting the seat acceptance fee has been communicated.
What is the last date for payment of fee?
November 6th, 2022.
How much do I need to pay if I belong to SC category and father’s income is above 5 lakh?
What is the last date to submit income certificate?
Students are advised to obtain the Income Certificate at the earliest. In case a student wants to pay the fee under Family Income below 1 lakh per annum & Family Income between 1 – 5 lakh per annum, the Income Certificate should be submitted before the payment of fee. In case students cannot manage to get the Income Certificate immediately, they should pay the full fee and can claim for a refund at a later date.
Please provide information regarding Scholarships and Education Loans?
IIT Tirupati provides for Merit cum Means Scholarships, Institute Free Studentship and SC/ST Scholarships. Please refer to R.24 of the B,Tech Ordinances available on the link. The Institute also encourages and facilitates students to apply for scholarships on National Scholarship Portal and other scholarships from various other agencies.
The Institute facilitates the students to avail Student Loans under Vidyalakshmi Scheme from State Bank of India, Settipalli Branch. The interest accrued during the programme duration is borne by the Institute, provided the student’s family income is less than INR 9 lakhs per annum.
An Income Certificate issued by the Tahsildar is only accepted as Proof of Income.
Do we get an interest free loan to study?
Please note that the educational loan is not interest free. However, if the student (with an annual family income of less than Rs. 9 lakhs per annum) avails loan under Vidyalakshmi Scheme from State Bank of India, Settipalli Branch, the Institute will bear the interest accrued on the Tuition Fee Component during the four years of B.Tech programme. The student needs to start paying interest after the four years of B.Tech programme.
Can I apply for NSP Scholarships?
Yes. All eligible students are encouraged to apply for NSP scholarships. The last date for NSP scholarships can be obtained from NSP Website - click here. The eligible students can directly apply on the NSP website.
What is the procedure for getting the MCM scholarships?
Application for Merit-cum-Means scholarships together with income certificates have to be submitted to IIT Tirupati. After the decision is made by the Senate to award the scholarships, the students are given the scholarship in the second semester, and the tuition fees paid by them for the first two semesters is reimbursed.
Is it necessary to have a bank account?
It is advised to have a bank account opened in the name of the student, preferably from State Bank of India. The Institute also facilitates the opening of Savings Bank Account for the students. The bank account would be helpful for receipt of scholarships etc.
What are the various cases in which income certificate should be submitted?
**At present Income Certificate for Family Income above 5 lpa and below 9 lpa is not being collected. The Income Certificate should be kept ready at the time of availing bank loan.
## Students with family income above 9 lpa can avail education loan under Vidyalakshmi Scheme but interest reimbursement will not be provided.
Who issues the Income Certificate?
The income certificate has to be obtained from the local state government revenue authorities. The income certificate should be issued by an officer not below the rank of a Tahsildar/Block Development Officer/Mandal Revenue Office. A valid income certificate issued within two years should be submitted. The Income Certificate should have details of family income and not just individual income. Digitally signed certificates are accepted.
In which format shall we upload caste/income certificate .... JOSAA or any other format?
Each State Government has their own format for issuing Caste/Income Certificate. The Caste/Income certificate has to be obtained from the appropriate state government authorities as mentioned earlier.
Where should we upload the documents?
The students need to submit only the income certificate and the fee payment receipt/proof generated while making online fee payment on SBI COLLECT portal. The link for uploading the documents is available on the Institute’s website. The soft copies of other documents will be obtained by IIT Tirupati from JOSAA.
In case of a student with family income below 1 lakh per annum, what should the student upload against Fee Payment?
In such cases where the student is not required to pay the fee at present, they may upload the JOSAA fee payment receipt.
Why is the Rs. 1 lakh for laptop computer being paid for?
Please understand that the Statement of Expenditure is to avail Bank loan/ Scholarship. The fee details are made available under the heading First Semester Fees
I have recently bought a new laptop. Is it compulsory to buy one from the institute?
No. The Institute does not sell or provide laptops. Students have to get their own laptops.
Could you please tell all procedures that are to be followed by the students?
You will be informed about all such formalities during the online orientation and induction program . As of now, submit the income certificate (if required) and pay the fees.
What is the immediate course of action?
All the new students are hereby informed that all relevant details regarding admission, procedures and other formalities will be explained during the orientation. The students are advised to pay the fee before 06.11.2022. The fee receipt and income certificate (if necessary) shall be uploaded on the Institute’s website. Please check the Institute’s website and your mailbox for any updates.
What about preparatory students?
The students who have secured admission to IIT Tirupati under preparatory course will be informed about the modalities in due course. They are most likely to be sent to IIT Hyderabad for taking up the preparatory course. After clearing the preparatory course, the students will be admitted to first year B.Tech programme during the next academic year 2023-24.
Please note that this is only for SC/ST/PwD students admitted under Preparatory Programme.
